Formerly referred to as the Defense driving course (DDC), the Army accident avoidance course (AAC) is a driving course done by the United States Army. The U.S army needs all its officers who are authorized to drive a vehicle for the army to undergo this course. These officers can include soldiers and other army officials. Even if a civilian drives a vehicle that is either owned or leased out by the U.S. Army they will be required to take up the army accident avoidance course. Every person who takes this course is also required to complete the training every 4 years when they start their service with the U.S. army.
Ten modules in the Course
A major part of this course is taught online while the remaining portion is taught in a live simulation setting. The online army accident avoidance course consists of about 10 modules. These modules are timed for a total of 4 hours. This means that the course needs a minimum of 4 hours to be spent for the study. There is no maximum limit, though. A person taking the army accident avoidance course can spend a lot of time to gain complete knowledge of the rules and become well versed with the laws and guidelines.
Tracking Time on the Study Material
The online army accident avoidance course comes with an online tracker that tracks the time that you have spent on the study material. This helps you to login or logoff at your convenience. The time tracker will track your time to the nearest minute and remembers the time that you have already spent on the course. The next time you log back in to the army accident avoidance online course, your session will resume from where you left it at. The tracker will continue to add the new time records to the already existing one. The online course is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Registering Online
The online army accident avoidance course is provided to interested people by the online knowledge management and learning systems of the U.S. Army. You can login using the credentials that are provided to you upon registering. Follow the clear instructions that are provided and you can start your course online. While the instructions are quite clear, you may still need some help. On such occasions, you may contact the AAC helpdesk to get answers for all your questions regarding this course on accident avoidance.
Passing the Final Examination
When you think that you are ready to appear for an examination and clear the army accident avoidance course, you can apply to write the final examination. This examination consists of 35 multiple choice questions or true/false type questions. The minimum percentage that you should score to pass the army accident avoidance course is 80% (28 correct answers of the 35). Once you pass the course, you will receive a course completion certificate. The completion certificate of the army accident avoidance course will authenticate you to drive the vehicles legally owned and leased out by the U.S Army.
